Investopedia lists digital marketing as the use of the internet, mobile devices, social media, search engines and other channels to reach consumers. However, at SBC Agency we see it as a far more than that.
The digital age has meant that we, as people, are more connected than anyone ever has been throughout history. Of the 7.7 billion people on the planet, 4.4 billion of them are on the internet and 3.5 billion of those are actively using social media. What this means is that at any moment in time with just the smartphone in your pocket you have the means of reaching over half of the population of the earth. What’s more that number is growing with a new person joining social media, on average, every 6.4 seconds.
What this means for brands though is that their customers are also closer to them than they have ever been before. For the first time, customers do not even have to leave the comfort of their home to be shown promotions of their favourite brands and products. It has become such a key marketing tool that a study done by the content marketing institute found that their members ranked all of the top three marketing tactics as forms of digital marketing (social media, blogs, email newsletters).
